Massachusetts man sentenced for abuse of Woonsocket boy
PROVIDENCE, R.I. A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to serve more than six years in prison for abusing a child. Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Horne of Sutton was sentenced to ten years, with six and a half to serve, after pleading no contest to two counts of second-degree child abuse.
The sentence includes three and a half years suspended with probation on the first count, and ten years suspended with probation on the second, to run consecutively.
Prosecutors contend that in February, while baby-sitting for the son of his girlfriend in Woonsocket, Horne injured the three-yar-old.
Horne fled to Virginia before being arrested and returned to Rhode Island. He has been held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston since March.
