Police keep woman from jumping from third-floor window
WOONSOCKET, R.I. Police came to serve a warrant to a pregnant woman in Woonsocket. They ended up narrowly preventing her from jumping from a third-floor window.
It happened Tuesday night, when officers went to of Anna Maria Almeida's residence on East School Street to find out why she skipped a court hearing. The 36-year-old ran into the dwelling.
Police ran after her, and saw her dive out the window toward the asphalt below. The patrolmen grabbed her legs as she fell. A police report says Almeida's body was completely outside the window.
The woman was taken to a local hospital. Police say she was not seriously injured, and her eight-month fetus was being monitored.
