PROVIDENCE, R.I. United Way of Rhode Island has set its sights high. The humanitarian assistance organization seeks to raise about nine million dollars in campaign lasting through next year.

United Way President Dennis Murphy calls the drive a significant community goal, but he says the money is necessary for it to be able to meet community needs. The group's focus is child education, reducing homelessness and training adults for jobs.
