Screen Actors Guild says Hispanics, Asians losing acting roles
LOS ANGELES A study released by the Screen Actors Guild shows Hollywood acting roles for Hispanics fell ten-and-a-half percent last year. There was also just over two percent decline for for Asians.
The survey also found that women got 38 percent of all acting roles, and white performers received more than 73 percent.
Former "Little House on the Prairie" star and SAG president Melissa Gilbert says "The longtime assumption that everybody wants to be blue-eyed, blond-haired and trim still persists."
Black actors had over 15 percent of all acting jobs, a three percent decline. Native Americans saw a slight rise in their roles, but still account for less than one percent of overall performances.
