Entertainment: 'Shark Tale' swims to Number One at the box office
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

LOS ANGELES "Shark Tale" has made a big splash at the box office and may have sunken its teeth into the record books.

The animated fish story has taken in an estimated 49-point-one (m) million dollars as the weekend's top film. And, if its numbers hold up, it will have broken the record for the best October movie debut.

The John Travolta firefighting saga "Ladder 49" premiered in second place, earning 22-point-eight (m) million dollars. Last weekend's top movie, "The Forgotten," falls to third place with 12 (m) million.

The studios will report their final figures for the weekend tomorrow.
