Nine communities will use new computerized voting system
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Nine communities will be using the new central voter registration system in advance of the November election.
The computerized voter registration system is to ensure accurate and updated voter lists.
It is designed to prevent errors including people voting in the wrong precincts or even in the wrong towns.
Pawtucket, Woonsocket, Warwick and Charlestown are joining five other communities already using the system.
Those are: Cranston, Exeter, Scituate, Smithfield and Westerly.
