Entertainment: Movie-goers crowd into `Village' for $50.8 million debut
LOS ANGELES Movie-goers enjoyed a fright fest by crowding into "The Village" this weekend. The story of a town menaced by bogey men in the woods earned nearly 51 (m) million dollars in its debut. Last week's number one, "The Bourne Supremacy" slipped into second.
In third place comes Denzel Washington's remake of "The Manchurian Candidate."
In at number four is "I, Robot." "Spider-Man Two" is in fifth place.
The weekend's other wide releases flopped. "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" debuted at number seven. The family sci-fi saga "Thunderbirds" opened in eleventh place.
