Developing Story-Missing Women
Woonsocket Police Confirm Human Remains were Found
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The state Medical Examiner has confirmed that evidence found at a Johnston landfill in connection with the disappearance of three Woonsocket women is human remains. The statement confirms what a presumed victim's family says police told them.
The family of Stacie Goulet says police told them the remains possibly could be their daughter's, but forensic testing is needed to know for sure. Police have said the evidence links the primary suspect in the women's disappearance, Jeffrey Mailhot, to the case.
Mailhot is being held on bail for allegedly choking two other women nearly to death this year. His lawyer will be in court tomorrow to ask a judge to reduce the 200-thousand dollar bail.
