Mosquitos found with virus
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) -- A positive test for Eastern equine encephalitis from a North Kingstown mosquito sample.
State environmental officials say itÔŅĹs the first confirmed indication of the virus in Rhode Island this year.
The mosquitoes were trapped by the state in a rural area off Frenchtown Road. The virus can be fatal to humans.
The state will be setting extra traps in the area.
State officials said the positive test is not unusual.
No human cases of the virus were reported last year.
