Actor charged with murder
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. A veteran character actor is in jail, charged with murder and attempted murder. Witnesses told police 74-year-old Robert Sorrells walked into a neighborhood bar in southern California and shot two people, killing one of them.
A bartender told the Los Angeles Daily News Sorrells had been at the bar until closing Friday night. He returned Saturday to look for his credit card, returned again in the afternoon and started shooting.
The injured man is in serious condition.
Ventura County police aren't saying if they know of a motive for the shooting.
Sorrells' film and T-V career dates back to the 1950s and includes a number of T-V westerns. His television credits include "Gunsmoke," "Rawhide" and "Bonanza," as well as "The Waltons," "Kung Fu" and "The Fall Guy."
