Contour Med

Erin Lutz is active, she's a mother of two and she's a breast cancer survivor. She received the devastating diagnosis nine years ago, when she was just 30 years old,  "I just wanted them both removed. I wanted them gone and off of me. I wanted the cancer gone."

After her double mastectomy she was left to try and regain her former self with clumsy breast forms,  "There would be times, especially in swim suits, where they would be practically down to my belly button!"

That's when Erin found Contour Med, a company that was producing custom made breast forms made to fit a woman's body.

Kathleen Baker of Contour Med says, "We want to capture their individual surgical site so whatever is missing on their body from their surgery we can make something that fits like a puzzle piece on their chest wall."

Putting together that puzzle is very simple. Kathleen does fittings at the Fine Lingerie and Gifts store in Middletown. It takes only several minutes as Kathleen takes digital pictures and then performs a 3-d scan on each woman. The scans help create a custom form that uses magnets to stick on the skin. The light weight and texturing helps eliminate the hot and heavy feeling associated with traditional breast forms.

Kathleen says, "It's more like your body. It looks like you when you stand in the mirror. It looks more like you than a traditional prothesis."

Erin is more than pleased with her custom protheses, "They feel wonderful. They are just a part of me, a part of Erin. A part of who I am. It's just freeing. It's a freeing feeling."
