RX For Rhode Island

A new program was announced today that could help thousands of Rhode Islanders who can't afford prescription drugs get the help they need.

RX for Rhode Island is a comprehensive new program that will ease access to free and discounted prescription medications.

The program consists of a website and a call center that will assist people who are applying for patient assistance programs offered by drug companies.

There are more than 300 such programs out there... And almost as many applications.

On the website patients will only need to answer 10 basic questions and will then know if they are eligible for any of those programs.

The same types of questions can also be answered by phone through the

program's call center... Eliminating the confusion that often goes along with filling out dozens of forms.

Or if you want to contact the programs's call center... They're open from nine to six and that number is

877-743-6779.   Their website is www.rxforri.org

The program also offers information to seniors about the newly-enacted medicare prescription drug benefit and discount card.
