Rhode Island Police Receive Funds For Bulletproof Vests

(Washington-AP) -- Local police departments are set to receive funding from the U-S Justice Department to help purchase bulletproof vests.

Cities and towns throughout Rhode Island are to receive more than 223-thousand dollars to purchase 809 vests. The awards are under the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program.

The grants help state and local governments equip their departments with the lifesaving vests.
