Cranston Woman Found Dead at Home, Son Prime Suspect
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Police are investigating a crime in Cranston that left an elderly woman dead, and they're searching for her youngest son as their prime suspect.
Police haven't officially ruled Marion Boyd's death a homicide, but they said a crime was committed. She was stabbed to death and police found a knife in the home. Police said there may have been some type of physical struggle.
Police are searching for her son, 51-year-old James Boyd, in connection with the crime. There is a warrant out for his arrest.
Firefighters broke into the 79-year-old woman's home at 50 Elton Circle about 3 p.m. Monday. She was found dead in a bedroom. Police said family members had called firefighters because they were unable to contact Boyd for several days.
