WPRI Eyewitness News Wins Emmy Award
WPRI Eyewitness News has been awarded a coveted Emmy by the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its coverage of the tragic Station Nightclub fire. The award was presented to News Director Gary Brown at the annual Emmy Awards ceremony in Boston May 2 nd .
The award was for the entire news organization covering a major news story. �We are thrilled to be recognized by our peers for our hard work in covering an important and challenging story,� said Brown.
WPRI had been nominated for the award along with another Providence television station and a Hartford television station.
�I am very proud that we won this award as everyone at WPRI/WNAC pulled together as a team to cover this tragic story,� said Jay Howell , President and General Manager, WPRI/WNAC.
The Boston/New England Chapter is dedicated, to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television. Their region covers the states of Connecticut , Maine , Massachusetts , New Hampshire , Vermont , northeast corner of New York and Rhode Island.
Our peers from Emmy chapters in Cleveland , San Francisco , Northern California and Los Angeles along with the national chapter judged the awards.
