Southern University implicates 541 in money-for-grades scandal
Baton Rouge, Louisiana-AP -- A money-for-grades scandal could cost some graduates of Southern University their degrees. Southern Chancellor Edward Jackson says a school worker at the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, campus took money to change grades for hundreds of students.
Jackson says grades were changed for 541 current and former students, and some of them paid to have as many as 20 grades changed.
He said it's likely both grades and degrees will be revoked.
The case has been traced to a single worker in the registrar's office. It could lead to criminal charges, including filing false public records, forgery and bribery.
