Westerly GOP member links Democratic Web site to his own
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

(Westerly-AP) -- The Web address westerlydemocrats-dot-com was taking computer users to an unexpected placetheRepublican Town Committees Web site.

The site is owned by Mark Gordon, a member of the Republican committee.

He saw the address wasnt registered to anyone and purchased it for 32 dollars.

He tells The Westerly Sun there is nothing wrong with his actions.

But some in town were outraged and complained. The Democratic Town Committees site is westerlydemocrats.org.

One Independent voter called the move a case of domain name squatting.

Still others thought the move was comical.

Gordon undid the link to the site. But he says he plans to hold onto the address and renew the registration before it expires in two years.
