Club Fire Tragedy: One Year Later
Governor Carcieri: Rhode Island changed forever
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

(Cranston-AP) -- Governor Carcieri says the deadly fire at The Station changed Rhode Island forever.

At a ceremony to mark the fire's anniversary, Carcieri said the fire brought great sorrow and heartache to Rhode Island.

He says (quote) "compassion, caring and empathy were, and still are, the hallmarks of this time."

He says the state prayed together, suffered together and worked together as neighbors.

He says he hopes those affected by the fire will find peace in the strength of a united community and the spirit of renewal.

He spoke directly to the survivors -- saying (quote) "you survived for a reason, find it."
