Prescription-ordering business closes temporarily after state warning

(Warwick-AP) -- A business that helps customers order prescription medications from Canada shut its doors temporarily following a warning from the state.

One of the owners said yesterday he planned to reopen today after making some changes.

The store advertises savings of as much as 80 percent on brand-name drugs because of Canadian government price controls.

The owner told The Providence Journal the stores name has been changed from Prescription Discounters, Incorporated to Canada Direct Discounters Incorporated.

The state Board of Pharmacy had objected to the word prescription, saying it violated state law by suggesting the business was a pharmacy.
