Marlins re-sign Castillo
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

Undated-AP -- Luis Castillo will remain with the Florida Marlins. The free-agent second baseman has agreed to a three-year, 16 (m) million-dollar deal with the World Series champions.

His agent says Castillo chose to stay with the organization he has known since he was 16.

The New York Mets made a strong push for the two-time all-star but Castillo decided to stay with the team he signed with as a teen-ager in 1992.

Castillo hit a team-high .314 with six home runs and 39 R-B-I's last season. He also stole 21 bases. His 214 steals over the last five years are the most in the majors.
