Jets 24 Titans 17
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

East Rutherford, New Jersey-AP -- The New York Jets kept their slim playoff hopes alive by beating the Tennessee Titans 24-to-17.

Chad Pennington threw for 231 yards and two second-half touchdowns as the Jets handed the Titans their first loss in seven games. Kevin Swayne and Curtis Conway caught T-D passes and Curtis Martin had a short touchdown run for the Jets.

Steve McNair started at quarterback for Tennessee despite a strained right calf and was mostly ineffective. He finished 21-of-35 for 272 yards with touchdowns and two interceptions. Derek Mason had eleven catches for 133 yards and a score for Tennessee which fell to 9-and-3.

The Titans were hoping to grab sole possession of first place in the A-F-C South with the win. They'll have to wait until Sunday for a chance at that when they host Indianapolis.

New York improved to 5-and-7.
