Newspaper reports bombing fears; British police say no specific threat
London-AP -- British police say there's nothing concrete but a published report says security services fear a Christmas bombing campaign by al-Qaida terrorists. Early editions Britain's Sunday Times report the police and M-I-Five security service are worried about simultaneous attacks on soft targets like shopping centers. It cites unidentified security sources who say suspects under surveillance have carried out possible reconnaissance or "dummy runs" for attacks on commercial centers.
However, London's Metropolitan Police, who remain on a high state of alert, did not confirm any specific concerns about soft targets. Police say there's no intelligence to prompt specific warnings.
