Flu season in full swing
Undated-AP -- The Flu season is hitting hard in some western and midwestern states with several deaths, including three in Washington state and four in COlorado. Washington state health officials are calling it an unusually early and potentially severe flu season.
Last week, 27 King County schools reported absenteeism of more than ten percent due to flulike illness _ nearly three times the previous week's count.
In Colorado, at least three children have died from the flu in the past two weeks, and a fourth case is under review. Nearly four thousand cases have been reported in adults and children.
And Nevada authorities say the state has been hit by a widespread flu outbreak, though no deaths have been reported.
And in the midwest, a Grand Island Nebraksa hospital has been inundated with almost 100 flu-sufferers over the Thanksgiving weekend.
