Reed and Clinton meet with Iraqi officials
(Kirkuk, Iraq-AP) -- Two senators have gotten a first-hand look at the problems in one of Iraq's richest oil cities.
Hillary Clinton and Jack Reed paid a visit to Kirkuk (keer-KOOK') today, and the town's mayor pleaded with them to tell officials in the U-S about the severe economic woes.
Heavy security surrounded the visit. The senators' convoy included a Humvee and an armored personnel carrier, and was protected from above by two Apache helicopters.
Clinton and Reed arrived in Baghdad yesterday, saying it's not too late for the U-N to be brought on board in helping rebuild Iraq.
