Warm weather means delay in opening Wachusetts Mountain ski area
(Princeton-AP) -- This mild November weather may be fine for hiking and fishingbut its not what skiers want. Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton said it will not open as scheduled today, because temperatures have been too warm, even at night, to make sufficient snow for the slopes.
Last year, Wachusett opened on November 13 th with a limited schedule. By Thanksgiving, several inches of natural snow had fallen on a base of man-made, allowing the ski area to expand to full operation of day and night skiing by the day after Thanksgiving.
Crowley said he expected the ski resort in the north-central part of the state to be open by Monday.
Skiers can get the latest information about the ski area opening on the Internet at www.wachusett.com or by calling the ski hot line, (800) 754-1234.
