A Cold War action thriller comes to D-V-D: Firefox
Undated-AP -- If you're looking for something to do following all that Thanksgiving turkey, try this. It's taken a long time, but Warner Home Video has finally released "Firefox" on D-V-D.
The 1982 film -- directed and produced by Clint Eastwood -- was made when the U-S and the U-S-S-R were still going eyeball-to-eyeball in the Cold War.
The well-photographed yarn revolves around Soviet success in producing a mach-5 fighter aircraft that also samples the pilot's brainwaves to cut down on response time for the firing of missiles.
Military experts in the West are understandably upset with this aircraft, and bring Eastwood out of retirement for a top secret mission to brazenly enter the U-S-S-R to steal it.
The plot is full of intrigue and action, and the action sequences in the finale were produced by the same man who did "Star Wars."
The D-V-D is also in 5.1 surround sound, something not common when this film was made.
