Crews of two RI lobster boats rescued
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The crews of two Rhode Island-based lobster boats were rescued after the vessels were disabled in separate incidents.
Fire sank the 34-foot, Jamestown-based Paula Rose about four miles off Block Island about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The lone person aboard hopped in a life raft and was rescued by a passing boat, according to a Coast Guard spokesman. The Coast Guard on Sunday night rescued a Tiverton-based lobster boat adrift at sea off Nantucket, Mass.
The 83-foot Edna Mae boat went adrift about 80 miles off Nantucket when crew attempted to fix a fouled line, and the generator failed. None of the four people aboard were injured.
The vessel was towed to Point Judith.
