Farmers using relaxing sounds to soothe turkeys
London-AP -- If you think the holidays are stressful, imagine being a turkey. In Britain, where the bird traditionally graces Christmas tables, the National Farmer's Union is taking steps to help keep turkeys healthier and tastier by soothing them with sounds.
Officials say more than 100 farmers are being sent a C-D of soothing sounds -- including birds twittering in the early morning, wind chimes, whale sounds and the gobble of "happy turkeys."
Officials say a stressed bird is more prone to disease. They say many farmers already play music in sheds where they raise turkeys.
