Disney's new video on demand service
Undated-AP -- The Walt Disney Company has started a movie on demand service called Movie Beam. Its being offered in just three cities to start, Salt Lake City, Jacksonville, Florida and Spokane, Washington.
Subscribers have to rent a Movie Beam box and there are 100 movies available. The price varies based on the release date. The high end of the price scale is three-ninety-nine. The box costs six-ninety-nine a month.
The big difference between Movie Beam and pay per view cable is that Movie Beam is like watching a D-V-D or V-C-R. You control when you watch it. If you need to leave the room, press the pause button.
The boxes are available from retailers like Best Buy.
Disney says it hopes to expand the Movie Beam service to more cities by the end of next year.
