Providence man indicted in fatal shooting of common-law wife

(Providence-AP) -- TheProvidence County grand jury has indicted a 31-year-old Providence man on one count of domestic murder in the death of his common-law wife.

George Gagnon was also indicted on three firearms charges.

Police say Gagnon shot 32-year-old Rhonda Case in May.

The couple had attended a social event together and became separated. Gagnon returned to the couple�s Northrup Street home alone.

When Case returned home at about 3 a-m, police say, Gagnon shot her as she sat in the family�s car. He then got into the car and drove Case to Miriam Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Gagnon is scheduled for arraignment in Providence Superior Court on October 22nd.
