D-V-D audio
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

Undated-AP -- First there were albums, then eight-tracks and cassettes. C-Ds came along, improving the quality of music audio and now there is D-V-D audio.

D-V-D audio discs can be played on any D-V-D player that has D-V-D audio capability.

The big difference with D-V-D audio is there are five channels of surround sound instead of two channels with a C-D.

A D-V-D-audio disc can also contain a limited amount of video, which can be used to display text, such as lyrics or notes, or still photos.

Most of the major recording labels are starting to sell D-V-D audio. Many are rereleasing classics from acts like the Beach Boys and Elton John with the upgraded format.
