First group of Iraqi refugees plan trip home
Geneva-AP -- They'll be the first group of refugees to return to Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein. Their convoy is set to leave a desert camp in northern Saudi Arabia tonight. More than 240 people will travel by bus overnight to avoid the daytime heat. Most are army deserters or prisoners taken by the U-S-led coalition in 1991.
Though the United Nations doesn't encourage the trip due to instability in Iraq, aides will help those who want to go. Many are desperate to return to their homeland and rejoin their families. More than three thousand Iraqis are expected to return by the end of the year.
