(Pawtucket-AP) -- A seven-year-old girl is recovering this morning after being mauled by a pit bull in Pawtucket. The one-year-old dog was surrendered to animal control. Police have interviewed the girl and witnesses, who say the girl did nothing to provoke the attack. The girl was bit in the face. The owners say they have no idea why the dog attacked the young girl. The dog has been quarantined at a shelter. Police are not sure if the owners of the dog will be charged but they are said to be cooperating.
