Governor appoints lead consultant for state's inquiry into raid
(Providence-AP) -- Governor Carcieri today has appointed the lead consultant for the state's inquiry into Monday's raid on the Narragansett Indians' smoke shop.
Sanford Cloud Junior is the president and C-E-O of the National Conference for Community and Justice.
The governor said Tuesday he would appoint a panel of three to five people to review the incident.
The National Conference for Community and Justice began in 1927 as the National Conference of Christians and Jews. The group is dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism.
Cloud's serves as part of the delegation to oversee the first Palestinian elections in Jerusalem. He is a former partner in a Hartford law firm, a former Connecticut state senator and a former lecturer at the University of Connecticut Law School.
