Body found near the home of missing British defense adviser
London-AP -- A key British defense adviser has turned up missing. And police searching for David Kelly say they've found a male body near his home in central England. The body hasn't been identified. Kelly's family reported him missing last night after he didn't come home from an afternoon walk.
It's been suggested that Kelly may have been the source for a disputed news report on Iraqi arms. The B-B-C report said government aides doctored intelligence on Iraqi weapons to bolster their case for war.
The 59-year-old Kelly had appeared before a parliamentary panel earlier this week to face questions about the B-B-C report. The government has asked the B-B-C to say if Kelly was the unidentified official cited in the story -- but the network has refused.
Kelly has said he had spoken to the B-B-C's defense reporter, but didn't believe he was the source for the story. And he denied making the claims in the report.
Defense officials and British leader Tony Blair's office say they're concerned for Kelly's welfare. A police official calls the case "sensitive."
