Panel: U-S needs more resources to "supercharge" Iraqi reconstruction
Pentagon-AP -- More people, more money and more international assistance are needed to "supercharge" the reconstruction of Iraq. That's according to a Pentagon advisory panel that visited the country and surveyed the progress being made by the U-S-led administrators.
The group's report says the administrators need to work quickly to avoid losing the trust and support of Iraqis.
It recommends better communication between the administrators and the local people to end what's described as "isolation." It also calls for the creation of public works jobs for Iraqi citizens.
The group also estimates that coalition troops will need to stay in Iraq for at least two to five years -- to back up the fledgling Iraqi police and military units.
