Florida AG to intervene in ACC lawsuit

(Tallahassee, Fla.-AP) -- Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist says he's been granted a motion to intervene in the Big East's lawsuit against the University of Miami and the Atlantic Coast
Conference.
Crist says a Connecticut judge has granted him the motion, which allows him to file papers to dismiss the lawsuit. Lawyers for the A-C-C filed a motion to dismiss on Monday.
U-Conn and three other Big East football schools are seeking millions of dollars in damages, claiming the A-C-C conspired with Miami to join the A-C-C and weaken the Big East.
Crist says that because Miami receives approximately state funding, and ACC member Florida State is a state-funded school, their fates and conference affiliation should not be decided by the
Connecticut courts.
