RI has eight highest cost of government in US
(Washington-AP) -- A study by a national tax watchdog group has found Rhode Island has the eighth-highest cost of government in the United States.
The group, Americans for Tax Reform, says Rhode Islanders work on average 198 days to cover government operations. Of that number, residents labored 135 days to subsidize government spending, and the other 65 days yo pay for regulations, according to the group.
The organization labels the Ocean State as relatively high-taxed and regulated.
The conclusions are posted on Americans for Tax Reform's Web
site.
