Narragansett Indians gaining more support
(Mashantucket, Connecticut-AP) -- The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is supporting the Narragansett Indian Tribe after the raid on its tax-free smoke shop.
The Narragansetts are suing Rhode Island officials, saying police violated their rights during the raid.
Mashantucket officials in Connecticut say the Rhode Island police used inappropriate and unnecessary force during the raid. They say the Narragansett's claims to the land predate the rights
of the state.
