Pittsburgh-AP -- The Boston Red Sox have reclaimed first place in the American League East by completing a double-header sweep at Pittsburgh 8-to-3.

Trot Nixon homered in both games for the Red Sox, who ended a five-game skid with an 11-to-4 victory in the opener. Johnny Damon added three hits and three R-B-I's in the nightcap. He had a two-run single in the Red Sox's four-run inning before singling home a ninth-inning run.

Derek Lowe allowed just one earned run and five hits in seven innings to get to 5-and-3. Lowe is 27-and-10 in 50 starts since moving from the Boston bullpen into the rotation in September of 2001.

The loss goes to 4-and-6 Jeff D'Amico, who was reached for five runs and seven hits in six-plus innings.
