Atlantic Coast Conference officials visit Syracuse University
(Syracuse-AP) -- Fresh off their visit to Boston College, Atlantic Coast Conference officials began a two-day visit to Syracuse University yesterday. ItÔŅĹs part of their final preparations to invite the university to leave the Big East for the A-C-C. Led by commissioner John Swofford, the A-C-C group met with Syracuse coaches, athletic department officials and key administrators during a day of presentations and tours of SyracuseÔŅĹs athletic facilities. A similar visit to the B-C campus wrapped up on Monday. The A-C-C voted last month to extend invitations to Boston College, Miami and Syracuse to begin formal discussions on joining the nine-team league. The A-C-C is courting the three schools in hopes of becoming a 12-team "superconference" that would add a lucrative football title game.
