San Diego-AP -- Dmitri Young's three-run homer in the top of the ninth gave Detroit a 3-to-2 comeback win over San Diego.

The Tigers trailed 1-to-0 until Ramon Santiago and Bobby Higginson singled with no outs in the ninth. Young followed with his tenth homer to give the Tigers the victory in a matchup of the majors' two worst teams.

Brian Lawrence took a four-hitter into the ninth before slipping to 3-and-7. He lost his previous start after taking a three-hit shutout into the ninth.

Jamie Walker evened his record at 2-and-2 with help from Franklyn German's (hur-MAHNZ') fourth save.
