Iran invites U-S to help build nuclear program
Tehran, Iran-AP -- Iran is inviting the United States to help build its nuclear power plants. A foreign ministry spokesman says if the U-S is really concerned that Iran is developing a nuclear bomb, it should bid for contracts to build the plants.
Any deal faces opposition from both governments. Iran's supreme leader has banned all official dealings with the U-S. And American bids would have to get past U-S sanctions that bar most trade with Iran.
Washington accuses Iran of building a plant to enrich uranium to produce bomb materials. U-N nuclear weapons inspectors have visited the plant and will issue their report next month.
Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
