British police seize pictures taken at mortuary where corpses desecrated
Note nature of the following item (London-AP) -- British officials say police are investigating a case of body desecration at a London mortuary.
A 65-year old Muslim woman's body was found there in January covered with strips of bacon. Islam forbids eating or touching pork products, which it considers impure.
When they started investigating they also found two-thousand pictures of dead people believed to have been taken at the same facility over the past decade. The bodies were of varying age, sex and ethnic origin. Police say the photos do not depict desecrations.
The images were seized when officers raided the house of a 53-year-old man arrested in connection with allegations of theft at the mortuary. Police would not reveal what was stolen, but said it was not body parts.
