      Tonight, 11 local tow companies have been notified they could be dropped from the state police tow list.
      Almost half of them because of their involvement in Plunder Dome.  
      The letters of suspension were sent may 16 to tow truck operators in several conmmunities in the greater Povidence area.
      Most of the operators are from the capital city.
      A key part of the Plunder Dome corruption trial was the allegation that tow truck operators were forved to contribute more than a quarter of a million dollars to former mayor Vincent Cianci's campaign organization.
      According to testimony, Frank Corrente, who ran Canci's campaigns, decided how much had to be contributed.
     And defendant Richard Atiello, one of the owners of 4a's towing, made sure the donations came in on time.
     The state police took notice that many tow company operators testified they made illegal campaign contributions.  
     Some of the letters that went out to the companies pertain to the corrption case in the city of providence.
     The suspension letters were sent to 6 compnaies who allegedly employ criminals and five letters went to companies involved in the plunder dome case.     Some of the company's that are on the state police tow list that were involved in plunder dome include Colleta's, Eastside Towing, Mario's and Nick's . Before any of the company is actually suspended, each has ten working days to tell the state police in writing why they should stay on the state police list.  
    "They will provide any documentation, mitigating circumstances that I will review with the superintendent  and we will respnd back to them and let them know what there sanction is. " 
    The city of Providence is in negotiations with the Rhode Island public tow association on how to select operators for the city's tow list. 
     It's possible that some companies could be approved to tow for the city while at the same time being suspended from towing for the state police.
