House Finance Committee Approves Money For Nightclub Fire Expenses
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

The House Finance Committee unanimously approved spending $340,000 to cover state expenses related to the West Warwick nightclub fire that claimed 100 lives. The money is part of 45 (m) million dollars in additional spending approved by the panel for the fiscal year that ends June 30th. The bill now goes before the full House. Expenses related to the February 20th fire at the station include health department costs for autopsy and lab supplies, state police and military staff overtime and other costs. Rhode island has received about $500,000 dollars in federal assistance for the fire. The state is also in line for another $450,000 in federal aid to help law enforcement agencies cover costs.
